Social systems are the patterns of relationships, norms, expectations, and informal influence that shape how people actually work together. They exist alongside formal structures, but often override them. This includes who people listen to, how decisions really get made, and what behaviors are rewarded or punished. Social systems are not visible in org charts. But they determine how the system actually behaves.
